Abstract: Dermaptera is a cosmopolitan order of insects, popularly known as earwigs, with representatives distributed mainly in the Southern Hemisphere, with a minority of species in North America, Europe and South Asia. In Brazil, there is a diversity of these predators in corn crops, with emphasis on the species Doru luteipes Scudder (Dermaptera: Forficulidae) and Euborellia annulipes Lucas (Dermaptera: Anisolabididae) found in different regions of the country. The growing interest in sustainable agriculture has put these predators in the spotlight due to their great potential for preying on insects at a young stage. However, knowledge of the biology of these predators to date only provides information on development during the young phase, with their life history not being completely described. Furthermore, studies of internal morphology are scarce for some species and non-existent for others. In this work we seek to understand the entire life history of two predators from the order dermaptera, as well as studies of the internal morphology of the reproductive systems of males and females, in order to better understand and trace a pattern for these species. In the first part of our study, we created a life table for each species, in which we estimated the parameters R0, rm and T and data on the biology of the predators. We detected that E. annulipes during the young phase has one more instar when compared to D. luteipes. acceleration in development time during the young phase in Doru luteipes species in the field and the presence of sexual selection. This part of the work was carried out at the Federal University of Lavras, with earwigs collected in corn fields and brought to the Molecular Entomology and Ecotoxicology (M.E.E.T) laboratory. In the other chapters, through microscopic and histochemical techniques, we learn about and describe the structures of the male and female reproductive systems of both species present in the study. In E. annulipes, the development of oocytes inside the ovarioles occurs asynchronously, there are only five ovarioles in each ovary and males have a post-vesicular vas deferens, which is continuous until the formation of the ejaculatory duct. In D. luteipes, the development of oocytes inside the ovarioles occurs synchronously and males have a short ejaculatory duct. The study provides basic but fundamental information for a better understanding of this order, which has scarce data. We believe that great research can be carried out based on basic knowledge, mainly aimed at more sustainable agriculture. Our data contribute to future mass breeding of these earwigs in the laboratory and a potential mass release in fields to control different insect pests.
