Description: Cultivation of microalgae in sugarcane vinasse is an alternative for biomass production and wastewater treatment. One of the challenges is the vinasse high organic load, demanding the dilution of this waste. So, this study evaluated microalgae growth in the recirculated supernatant effluent from the microalgae cultivation step used for vinasse dilution. Four cultivation phases (P) were performed under controlled conditions. P1 evaluated the cultivation of microalgae in vinasse in dilutions (1%,5%,10%,15%,20%), P2 tried the best dilutions (1%,5%,10%) in P1 and evaluated the possibility of reuse of water in the culture in the dilutions of 1% (S1%) and 5% (S5%). The best condition (5%) had yields in P1 and P2, respectively, of 0.42, 0.77 mgChla.L-1.d-1 and 47.56, 58.48 mgVSS.L-1.d-1. P3 (5%) and P4 (S5%) ensured productivity and treatment efficiency, demonstrating that effluent from the industrial process together with supernatant of the cultivation recirculation can be used for closing the system water demand.
