Abstract: With the increase in interest regarding implementing public policies to promote sustainable development, it is of common benefit that analysis tools are created and discussed. Implementing structured projects that promote the transition from agricultural production to more sustainable production facilitates the performance analysis and success of these transitions. In 2015, the Government of Mato Grosso launched the PCI, Produce, Conserve, and Include Program to reduce the state's environmental impact on agricultural production. The PCI is characterized as a program with a participatory jurisdictional approach with 21 goals to reduce the environmental impact on the state's agricultural production. This work aims to analyze the initiatives of the Government of Mato Grosso within the scope of Public Policies, seeking to relate the results of the PCI program to the laws, ordinances, and decrees published in the Federal Gazette. We identified a positive and replicable model of an incentive program that results in an effective system that encourages more sustainable production. All 21 goals of the PCI program and all publications in the Federal Gazette of the State of Mato Grosso between January 2016 and December 2019 were also listed and analyzed. The study generated allowed us to analyze the impact of the participatory jurisdictional approach on the result of the PCI program in the first four years after its implementation.
