Resumo: | Migratory fish have significant importance in fish farming in Brazil. Hormone-induced fish spawning is a technique that induces final maturation and gamete release, allowing the fish to complete the reproductive cycle under controlled conditions. In the first article, the objective was to study the influence of the hormonal status over the blood pattern of curimba (Prochilodus lineatus) against handling stress conditions during the breeding season. The experiment was conducted at the CEMIG fish farming station in Itutinga, Minas Gerais, during breeding season. The erythrocyte and leukocyte parameters were analyzed and compared to the dosing of the gonadal hormones, cortisol and glucose of curimba males and females. There were no statistical differences between concentrations of glucose of males and females, or of testosterone in males (p>0.10). Among the males, the hematological parameters were statistically similar to the erythrocyte profile. The relative value of lymphocytes, neutrophils and monocytes varied showing statistical difference between them (p<0.10). The concentrations of hormones and the hematological parameters of females did not differ, with the exception of the monocytes (p>0.10). In conclusion, during the reproductive period, changes in the hematological profile of curimba (Prochilodus lineatus) can occur, possibly due to stress caused by changes in the environment and of physiological management conditions. In the second article, the objective was to determine the reproductive parameters used during the selection of breeding fish for hormonal induction, and correlate them with the hormonal profile of males and females of curimba (Prochilodus lineatus) induced with EBHC. After selection, the breeders were weighed and measured. M1 was done in the position of the pectoral fins, M2 was done between the fins and urogenital papilla, and M3 was done in the urogenital papilla position. We quantified glucose, testosterone, 17-β-estradiol, progesterone and cortisol. The testosterone showed no correlation with celomatic bulging or with the quality of gametes (p>0.10). For females, there was no statistical difference in the plasma correlation of estradiol and progesterone, as well as no correlation between hormones with spawning quality parameters. Plasma glucose was significantly correlated to ventral bulging. In conclusion, the morphometric parameters are not reliable for evaluating gonadal maturation in males and females of curimba (Prochilodus lineatus). |
