Abstract: The importance of this piece of research is related to the increasing interest around the problems of the deaf people‘s education, representing a rich aspect to be discussed and reflected upon. In this case specifically the highlighted situation is the initial formation of the teachers who will work with deaf students in a bilingual context. The purposes of this study are: to map the knowledge of the future teachers concerning the process of formation for deaf people‘s education; to analyze the profile of the undergraduate students in the department of Pedagogy, above all, concerning their conceptions about the bilingual environment for teaching deaf people and to suggest didactical and pedagogical modifications aiming for a better attainment in the process of formation of the teachers who will deal with deaf people‘s education. This survey ha s a descriptive nature, and a study design with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The data generation occurred through questionnaires, which intended to respond to the objectives of this piece of research. The content analysis was used as an instrument for the analysis of data. The results obtained proved the need of didactical and pedagogical modifications to enable a better attainment in the process of formation of teachers who will work in deaf people‘s education. It is our hope that this study promotes the reflection among education professionals concerning the way knowledge is produced, encouraging changes and a possible rupture with practices that stimulate a paradigm that doesn‘t comply with the principles of an inclusive education.
