Abstract: The professional practice of psychologists in educational contexts Brazil covers improving the teaching-learning process in its overall appearance and characterized, including, for practical interventions in loco. It is clear, in the Brazilian context, a consolidation of practices / studies in the field of Occupational Vocational Guidance, in particular the expansion of this activity offered in schools. In this sense, this work presents study that aims to understand the perceptions / influences of parents / guardians about the choices of young professionals, specifically as regards the maturity to career choice. This is an account of professional experience, using the socio-historical approach, with locus an elementary school in the state of Minas Gerais / Brazil. Participants in this qualitative study were six students in the last year of high school and their parents / guardians. The instruments used were semi-structured interview and the Maturity Scale for Professional Choice (EMEP). The results show that respondents in general have an average level of maturity and security to choose a profession and there are differences between the views of parents regarding the situation of their children. There was indirect influence of the family in the choice of the students and that most parents are unaware of this.
