Resumo: | This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of cafeteria diet with chocolate, peanuts and cracker in the induction of overweight and dyslipidemia in rats. To obtain the data, mice (n = 21) was distributed in three groups: Control (commercial feed), Hypercaloric Diet Control (commercial feed, corn oil and condensed milk) and Hypercaloric Diet Test (commercial feed, milk chocolate, peanuts crisp biscuit and corn starch), and they were kept for 8 weeks in the study. To evaluate the efficacy of Hypercaloric Diet Test was considered: total weight gain, body mass and Lee indices, and quantification of total and hepatic lipids. Serum levels of total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose, and the activity of both, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) enzymes were determined. Data were compared by 5% Tukey test. The animals of Hypercaloric Diet Test showed a lower weight gain, Lee index, and total cholesterol and triglycerides levels. However, there was no statistical difference between the groups fed with hypercaloric diet in the body mass index, HDL-cholesterol, in the rate of total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol, and the amount of total lipids and blood glucose. It was concluded that the Hypercaloric Diet Test was less effective to induce overweight and hyperlipidemia when compared to a hypercaloric diet with sweetened condensed milk, since it only increased the levels of hepatic lipids. |
