Abstract

Follicular divergence is an important moment in follicular selection, when, for the first time, a significant difference is noted in the growth rate of the first two follicles. In addition, follicular divergence can be influenced by the presence of the corpus luteum and its relation to the dominant follicle, according to its ipsilateral or contralateral location and by concentration of progesterone. Thus, it is important to evaluate the endocrine and molecular changes regarding the local factors of the ovary that interfere in the process of follicular dominance, over everything in the Bosindicus species. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the growth profile of the future dominant follicle (DF) and its relation to the subordinate follicle (SF) and intra-ovary factors that interfere in follicular divergence during the induction of luteolysis in Nellore cows.
