Abstract: The sorghum-soybean intercropping utilization in the region of Sul of Minas Gerais is promising, because it provides to the producer great forage quality at a cheaper cost. Aiming to select, in condition intercropping between rows, soybean cultivars and sorghum hybrids of best performance, a trial was conduced utilized the experimental design that of randomized blocks in factorial scheme 2x4x4+4 with three replications, being made up of two cutting systems (a single cutting, close-cut to the soil, of both crops at the R5 stage of soybean and a two-cutting system: the first done at 60 days after emergence at 30 cm from the soil and the second after regrowth of the plants, close-cut to the soil at the same time of the cutting of the first system), four soybean cultivars (CAC-1, Conquista, Cristalina e Doko RC) and four hybrids of forage sorghum (AG 2002, AG 2005E, BR 601and Massa 03). Another contiguous trial was conduced for the respective monocultures of sorghum been realized the cutting of plants with grains in mealy stage. In the intercropping, the different cutting systems showed higher yields of total crude protein. In this condition, it was possible to select soybean cultivars (CAC-1) and sorghum hybrids (AG 2002 and BR 601) of better performance in yields of total crude protein. The utilization of cultivars and hybrids (soybean and sorghum) showed combinations with higher yields of total crude protein, when comparated with monoculture.
