Abstract: | The objective of this study was to determine the technical and economic feasibility of intercropping coffee with papaya in different tillage systems. The systems were evaluated in monoculture coffee, coffee intercropped with papaya in the rows and intercropped with coffee planting papaya between the lines. The experiment was installed in a randomized block design with eight replications. The coffee grown in line with papaya and spacing showed greater heights and stem diameters smaller number of nodes and the plagiotrophycal than coffee monoculture. However, such monoculture of coffee plants did not differ as to the uniformity of fruit ripening, productivity, income and average rating sieve. Systems consortium of papaya with coffee show positive economic returns without compromising the vegetative growth and yield of coffee. the consortium of coffee in line with papaya has better economic return. |
