Abstract: The objective of the present study is to assess the strategic behavior of female entrepreneurs. The study was based on Miles and Snow’s (1978) taxonomy of strategic types to identify these strategic forms. The methodology was a quantitative research, with a questionnaire structured in 75 small businesses owned and managed by women. Choosing women as the object of this study is mainly due to the fact that the insertion of women in the productive system constitutes a privileged factor for analyzing the transformations happening in the feminine world during these modern days. From comparisons of statistical variables reflecting competitive strategy, we conclude that the four strategic types proposed by Miles and Snow exist: prospector, analyzer, defender and reactor. Among which, the most common strategic profile was the analyzer.
