Abstract: An alternative to the use of pesticides to control black sigatoka, caused by the agent Mycosphaerella fijiensis, is the use of induced resistance, which activates the latent mechanisms of plant resistance using biotic or abiotic agents such as, acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) and products based on silicon. The objective of this work was to study the induction of resistance to black sigatoka by ASM and Potassium silicate. Grand Naine (AAA) banana leaves were sprayed with the treatments: T1-Potassium silicate 0.5 %; T2-0.2 g.L-1 of ASM + Potassium silicate 0.5 %; T3-0.5 g.L-1 ASM + potassium silicate 0.5%; T4-0.2 g.L-1 ASM; T5-0.5 g.L-1 ASM; T6-1g.L-1 ASM; T7-1g.L-1 + ASM potassium silicate 0.5 %; T8–inoculated control T9–non-inoculated control. After seven days, the plants were inoculated and kept in a growth chamber. T1, T5, T6 and T7 did not differ significantly from the inoculated control. The treatments T2, T3 and T4 reduced the severity of black sigatoka, with the respective values 7,75, 8,75 and 12,75 for the area under the curve of disease progression and were able to induce the synthesis of lignin and joint phenols.
