Abstract: Vehicles equipped with Automated Driving Systems (ADS) are capable to perform intelligent actions without human intervention. They are based on data obtained from sensors embedded in the vehicles, as well as the outputs generated by specialist systems. This process presents uncertainties that increase with the complexity of ADS. In this sense, a new concept of data recording device, aiming to support technical expertise for investigation and resolution of failures was proposed. However, the visualization of the scenario recorded by the new registers can be hampered by the complexity of the data and by the absence of a storage pattern. Aimed at assisting in the regulation of vehicles equipped with ADS, this study discusses the data recording devices in a step further, in view of the diversity of solutions presented by the scientific community and the industry, in an effort to obtain a standard of data storage. The research also presents ways of performing a visual reconstruction of the stored data in order to provide transparency in theattribution of responsibilities in cases of failures and accidents involving the ADS. Preliminary results point to a storage pattern that will be useful in the development of a visual reconstruction system as an aid to technical expertise.
