Abstract: Its clear, nowadays, the fact that science education faces many challenges. Classes need to construct knowledge with the students in an exciting and interesting way, or there is the of failing to estimulate the reflection of the students and their taste for knowledge. Thus, a methodology was developed with the goal of building zoology knowledge with students, providing opportunities for reflection and contextualization. To do this, we used a RPG (Role-playing Game) built especially for this class. After the planning process, the game was applied to the students. First, the rules were presented to students, who then split into groups to play, on which one of the players of each group was the master and the others have chosen each one animal in the history of the game. After the game, a discussion of the topics covered was made. Throughout the class, the teacher acted as a mediator, guiding groups during the game and assisting in the contextualization of the themes in the story. The students wrote their impressions of the classes, which were generally positive. It was possible to notice that the RPG not only shows itself as a new way of teaching science, but also stimulates the imagination, creativity and cooperation among students, in a fun and playful way. Strategies like this approach the students to the knowledge, and demonstrate how alternative teaching methods can be not only fun, but very useful for teachers and students.
