Abstract: This paper approaches the social practices related to black children and production of children culture. Our theoretical framework draws on Souza (2012 and 2016) which refer, respectively, to how elementary school teachers interpret black children childhood as well as production of children culture in a candomble ground. It calls for reflection on the plurality of perceptions of childhood aiming at bringing contributions for development of decolonizing pedagogies. Concepts of ancestrality, corporality and orality are highlighted in order to give support to the equity in children’s education and inspire new public policies on racism overcoming as well as any distortions that turn differences into inequalities.
