Abstract

It is known that the daily activities carried out by workers may endanger their physical integrity and, in most cases, exposes them to harmful agents to your health and can cause disease in the short, medium and long term during their working life. As for accidents, there are the minor injuries, sever e, disabling and death. One can not, however, state that the working conditions are mainly responsible for the unpleasant consequences to the employee, as in many cases, accidents and occupational diseases occur by lack of information or lack of risk awareness by the worker himself. Understanding the ability of perception of the risks inherent to the activities by the employee is a key factor to promote good health and safety management at Work. In this sense, the objective of this study is to analyze the perception of workers about the risks that the activities they offer and identify whether the current mechanisms of risk perception are effective for a good system of prevention to health and safety at work in some activities under the Federal University of Lavras. For the development work, mid-level technicians and higher were selected from permanent and contract framework of the Federal University of Lavras departments beyond maintenance workers and works of Campus Hall. Through questionnaires answered by them, we evaluated the risk perception and also the effectiveness of other factors such as the Environmental Risk Prevention Programs, communication systems of the risks and current control measures. As the main tool of this research, we used a single questionnaire per worker. Data were analyzed from the response of semistructured questionnaire containing questions on length of service, age, perception of risk agents in each activity as well as the protection measures adopted. International Labour Organization - as references, the Regulatory Standards of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Guidelines on Security Management Systems Labour ILO were used.The survey results indicate that the Unit Hazard Communication Program is insufficient to prepare the worker to realize the risks and develop safe attitudes.
