Abstract: Among the new systems for cultivating plants, the bioreactors stood out as a method with suitable applicability, which may provide better conditions for the multiplication of seedlings in large scale and with a reduced cost. The aim of this study was to evaluate the number of established explants (free of bacterial or fungal contamination), as well as the multiplication and elongation of Bambusa vulgaris Schrad ex Wendl. sprouts in different cultivation systems. Explants derived from the in vitro establishment phase were transferred to three cultivation systems, which were composed by temporary immersion bioreactor (BIT), liquid-based in vitro cultivation (MEL) and in vitro cultivation in standard culture medium (STANDARD), where two sucrose concentrations were also tested (0 and 30 g.L-1). At 14 days, the rate of established explants was evaluated. From the explants considered alive and without signs of contamination, we evaluated the number and average length of sprouts. The greater number of established explants was observed in the BIT cultivation method in the absence of sucrose, and MEL when added 30 g.L-1 of sucrose. The BIT and MEL stood out showing greater average number of sprouts per explant. The STANDARD culture medium resulted in lower number of established explants, besides the lowest number of sprouts per explant.
