Abstract: This paper presents the determination of the parameters of a nonlinear elastic model from the analysis of the results of a pressuremeter tests. In order to identify the best set of parameters of the model was necessary to simulate the finite element method, define an objective function corresponding to the difference between the results measured in the field and obtained numerically and finally, to use a genetic optimization algorithm. For the estimation of the initial populations of the algorithm, it was proposed the delimitation of a search space that uses model parameters obtained with triaxial tests. It was concluded that the genetic algorithm was efficient in the back analysis of the studied pressuremeter curves.
