Abstract: | One of the methods for optimizing food shelf life is edible coating. In this work, chitosan films incorporated with different concentrations of montmorillonite were synthesized by the casting method. Their morphologies and barrier properties were analyzed. The films composed only of chitosan and incorporated with 2% w/w of clay presented the best results and were selected for the kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala) coating. |
