Abstract: The erva-de-santa-maria (Dysphania ambrosioides) is a plant widely used in several places of the world as vermifuge, due to the presence of ascaridiol and its reproduction is via seeds, however there are few works that help the cultivation of this species, both in relation to germination and quality evaluation of the seeds of this species. The objective of this work was to evaluate the ideal conditions of temperature, light and substrate and the influence of the integument on the germination of Santa Maria grass seeds and the allelopathic effects of the fruit parts of this species. The alternating temperature of 15-25 °C with photoperiod 16 h of light and the paper substrate are suitable for conducting the germination test of the erva-desanta-maria. The first germination count and germination can be performed at six and ten days after the germination test is set up. The removal of the pericarp in sieves gives greater germination and speed of germination to the seeds. The fruits and pericarp slow the germination of lettuce. The electrical conductivity test with 3 hours of imbibition and the traditional accelerated aging at 38 ° C for 24 hours are efficient in evaluating the vigor of Santa Maria spp.
