Abstract: This article aims to verify how the intolerance and linguistic prejudice occur in the comments of cyberspace users and to observe the monitoring of language in this social interaction environment. Therefore, the selection of three materials published on the Internet was held: “A língua que a gente fala”; “Caipira conserva formas antigas da Língua Portuguesa” and “Em bronca, Caetano Veloso dá aula sobre como usar a crase e faz sucesso na web.” From these three publications, thirteen comments with focus for the discussion on the prejudice, the intolerance and the linguistic tolerance were analyzed. As theoretical assumptions, primarily those of sociolinguistic were used. Among the observed results, although there are a significant number of people who accept positively the language variants, there is still a large portion of cyberspace users that does not accept the variation as something natural and legitimate of the languages. In addition, it was observed that users who produce biased and intolerant comments also make mistakes in their phrasal constructions without taking care of it.
