Abstract: Despite the discussions about Brazilian public policies, the impacts of tourism policy are poorly known. Assimilating diverse roles during the last century, Brazilian governments could set goals and provide different expectations. This work aims to analyze the process of institutionalization of public policies on tourism in Brazil from 1930 to 2010. To achieve this, is restored to the public agenda of tourism in Brazil. The data source used the site of the Chamber of Deputies. There was recurring institutional inconsistency, increased investments, and transformation of expectations. There is also recent change in the profile of these policies, seeking to conform to international standard.
