Abstract: Arnica (Lychnophora pinaster Mart.) from the Asteraceae family is a medicinal species, endemic of campo rupestre of cerrado and endangered. This work aimed to study the influence of temperature and light on the germination of achenes of arnica collected in two stages of maturation. We used seeds collected in the stage of presence and absence of internal papus. The germination test was performed in thermogradient table at temperatures 15, 20, 25 and 30+2 °C under continuous light and incubator (BOD), adjusted at temperatures of 20-30 ºC with photoperiod of 12 hours, and without light. We used a randomized design, with the distribution of treatments in 5x2x2 factorial arrangement with four replications. Evaluations of germination speed and germination percentage were performed in alternate days by a total period of 60 days. The arnica seeds maturation stage for harvest is related to the absence of internal papus. The seeds of arnica are preferred photoblastic positive, where the incidence of light affects positively the germination at constant temperatures.
