Resumo: The goal of this paper is to identify contributions of women's participation in public and private spaces of a settlement organized by the MST, located in the municipality of Guapé in the southern state of Minas Gerais. The proposal is justified because the social construction of gender relations are affirmed and ratified in the most diverse productive spheres and the daily, so, they have created an ideology of gender roles expected and socially accepted about how men and women should act and behave appropriately, in addition, the sexual division of labor is surrounded by hierarchical power relations, where there is unequal valuation of women compared to men. The study was conducted based on semi-structured interviews, focus groups, document analysis, and mainly on participant observation. In conclusion, we perceive a significant presence of women in the management of the settlement. However, it also fixed relational patterns are reproduced patriarchal gender order, which naturalize male and female traditional roles, especially in the domestic domain where relations between men and women still seem to us uniquel.
