Violência na administração pública: um estudo fundamentado na trajetória de um ex-político

Abstract

Violent practices performed in work environment have been shown as an important matter inside human resources fields, playing an important role for public and private organization studies. This paper aims to analyze violence manifestations against a politician, when he was a municipal mayor. This qualitative analysis was based on the life history method. The content analyze was based in his narrations, and having as theoretical support the contributions of Bourdieu (1990, 1996, 1998), mainly the relationship between social field and habitus. The study showed moral violence manifestations, strongly associated with power dispute. These violent conducts were performed by the politician’s adversaries, public servers, as well as by the local citizens. However, these events were interpreted, by the interviewed, as something legitimated in the political field in which he was inserted.
