Abstract: | This work studied the different geometric solids that best represent the form of standing tree stems. The objective was to generate stem form equations starting from the geometric solid that, on average, minimizes the deviations between these diameters and diameters of the log, being defined as dendrometric optimized prototype (pd optimized). To decide for pd optimized, the point of minimum deviations was analyzed in relation to the indexes that represent geometric solids positioned along the segmented trees stems. The data used were obtained in from volume determination of 188 tree samples and also from data obtained from the in the volume determination simulation, using relative height, as if the 188 sampled trees were standing. In general, it was concluded that pd optimized depends on the length and on the position in the trunk of the tree and that; for employment of the relative height method on trees where DBH and height only were measured, pd optimized propitiates a better accuracy level in the quantification of the multiproducts of the wood than that obtained when using the regression analysis to estimate angular coefficients of the straight line. |
