Abstract: The poultry industry is proving year after year as one of the most important sources of animal protein for the population. For this, the production of chicken meat in Brazil has undergone a great development in recent decades. To reach this stage, a number of factors were crucial, such as the acquisition of new expertise in the areas of nutrition, genetics, management and welfare of the birds, allowing positive results were achieved. So that the birds can fully express their genetic potentiality, it is essential to also develop other areas involved in production as the thermal environment of creation. Thus, this paper aims at giving a brief description of the architectural concepts in poultry facilities, highlighting the importance on the welfare of birds.
