Abstract: The present study aimed to evaluate the phytosociological parameters and estimating bole volume, biomass and carbon stock in different diameter classes in a semideciduous forest fragment on the banks of the reservoir Hydropower Plant Camargos (MG). The research was conducted in an area located on the banks of the dam Hydroelectric Energy Company of Minas Gerais - Cemig. The estimate of the data was obtained through assessments collected through dendrometric forest inventory. The results showed that the species with the highest importance were: Copaifera langsdorffii, Tapirira obtuse, Lithraea molleoides, Nectandra nitidula, Protium and heptaphyllum Cryptocarya aschersoniana. It is observed that the highest value of species found in natural fragment led to a high value of the Shannon diversity index. The highest volume of bole (42.30 m3.ha-1) occurred in smaller diameter class (17.5 cm). It is noted that the largest carbon stock was found in diameter class corresponding to 22.5 cm (9 ton.ha-1). It follows that riparianforests addition to playing an important role in soil conservation in maintaining the quantity and quality of water also contributes to minimizing the greenhouse by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
