| Abstract: | The purpose of the present study was to undertake a survey on the occurrence of non-flying mammals species in “Janelão” and “Brejal” caves, located in the “Parque Nacional Cavernas do Peruaçu”, in the northern part of the Minas Gerais state, in Brazil. Direct sampling method (visualization, carcasses and capture) and indirect sampling method (footprints, feces, vocalization) were used to the assessment of the non-flying mammals occurrence. A total number of 12 species was recorded in both caves. Three species were found common to both caves, as well as specific species to each cavity, highlighting the importance of both habitats as shelters or movement corridors for these species. |
