Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the application of different effluent rates from the Sewage Treatment Plant of Lavras Federal University on soil chemical characteristics, in the productivity and chemical composition of the Emerald grass (Zoysia japonica). The pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic matter (OM), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), sodium (Na), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) in soil and dry matter yield and leaf contents of N, P, K, Na, Ca and Mg of Emerald grass were measured. The experimental design adopted was a randomized complete block design, with five treatments and four replications. The results were submitted to statistical analysis, using the F test, and the means were compared by the Tukey test, both at 5% probability. After analyzing, the application of the effluent at the different rates provided a significant increase in pH, K, Ca, Mg, and Na of soil and in dry matter production and in N, P, K and Na in leaf content of the Emerald grass. However, it is recommended that the effluent application be assessed by monitoring periods higher than the one in this study, since it is important to observe climatic variations, soil conditions and the effect of effluent application in the long term.
