Abstract: | Coffee production is developed in different regions of the state of Minas Gerais. Each one has diversity in terms of variables that impact on your results. Reviews of coffee that cover such regional differences are necessary for mapping the sector in terms of financial results . The article aims to check the impact of risk management on the financial results of coffee in Minas Gerais in 2011/12 crop in different production systems. Altogether 32 properties, located in the State of Minas Gerais, in two regions, Cerrado and Sul de Minas were studied. It follows that different combinations of variables: region of crops, size of production area, use of irrigation infrastructure, and especially the level of mechanization of farming, generate different results with regard to yield and net margin in coffee. The higher the level of mechanization, the better the financial results. The use of hedge price proved an interesting alternative, since for strata analyzed the financial results would be leveraged on the future sale of coffee. |
