Resumo: This work characterized the market type, size and companies segment that hold the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) 100% seal in Brazil and evaluated the managers perception of these companies on the benefits of forest certification. This study is justified by the voluntary character of the program, which proposes to ensure that a forest is managed in a sustainable way, contemplating economic and socioenvironmental aspects. Interviews were carried out with forest managers from all companies available on the FSC platform, with FSC 100% certified, for three weeks to evaluate their program perception. The results were tabulated, grouped according to market type, size and performance segment, and then submitted to the Kruskal-Wallis test. Of the 110 companies available on the FSC platform, 92 (84%) expressed a response. Evidence was found that the FSC program brings benefits to the private sector, such as access to international markets, improvement in employee training, positive impact on company image, among others. However, the payment of premium prices has not yet been received, most of the local communities are indifferent to producers with certificates and most Brazilian consumers do not recognize the FSC seal. It is concluded that there are benefits for certified companies, but that the intended scope in your institution is not fully achieved. Further studies are needed to study the alternative ways that allow the program to reach its full potential, such as increased environmental education and FSC brand advertising.
