Abstract: In planted forests, the road network is mainly responsible for the soil losses and siltation of streams caused by erosion, and thus is directly related to sustainable land use as far as the management type adopted. This study aims to address the causes of erosion on forest roads, and ways of monitoring and control that are effective and obviously necessary for a strategic and sustainable forest development. The monitoring of soil loss by erosion is essential to proper management of agricultural activities, since they organize the selection and adoption of practices designed to minimize soil degradation. In general, environmentally satisfactory results are obtained when there is: a careful selection of routes, avoiding unnecessary movement of soil, construction of an efficient drainage system, the revegetation of slopes and regular maintenance of roads.
