Resumo: Neoplasms of the respiratory system are important causes of death in humans; in the Veterinary Medicine, primary neoplasms of the respiratory system have a relatively low frequency, while neoplasms metastatic to the lungs are quite frequent. Dogs and cats are the most affected species with more studies on lung cancer in these species. On the other hand, there is a lack of information about neoplasms of the respiratory system in cattle, horses, pigs, goats and sheep. This work aims to contribute to the study of primary and metastatic neoplasms of the respiratory system in domestic mammals, including information on nature, epidemiology, gross and microscopic findings. The study included cases of neoplasms in the respiratory system diagnosed in domestic mammals in the Veterinary Pathology Sector of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine of the Federal University of Lavras in 2007-2019 period. Samples of tissues and organs were collected at necropsy, fixed in buffered 10% formaldehyde and processed for histopathological analysis. In addition, in the period of September to December 2019 the nasal cavity of all domestic animals sent for necropsy was examined. From 2007 to 2019, 4509 necropsies of domestic mammals were performed, identifying 420 cases with some type of neoplasia. Of these, 141 animals had neoplasms in the respiratory system, being primary (11) or metastatic (130). Primary neoplasms comprised three cases of nasal neoplasms and eight lung neoplasms, of which the most frequent were squamous cell carcinoma in the nasal cavity and pulmonary adenocarcinoma, while the most frequent metastatic neoplasms were from mammary tumors in bitches. Clinical signs and epidemiological data such as most affected species, age, sex, and breed have also been described. Most of the neoplasms of the respiratory system were malignant, with an unfavorable prognosis.
