Resumo: Morphometry and evaluation of leg conformation are morphozootechnical parameters used in the selection of foals and adult animals Mangalarga Marchador (MM), however their application in the breed genealogical registration routine is limited. In this study we aimed to review the location of the 44 anatomical-topographic points needed to measure 39 linear measures and 12 angular measures cited in the literature and / or used in practice to select MM horses. As well as evaluating the potential of the 2D kinematic analyzes as an alternative methodology to optimize the evaluation of equine morphology, especially morphometry and leg conformation. The morphometry by 2D kinematics of eight MM equines of different categories was carried out, by three evaluators in the Tracker® software, having found mean values of intra class correlation coefficients of 0.893 ± 0.122 and 0.894 ± 0.128 for linear and angular measurements, respectively. The simultaneous application of leg conformation 2 D kinematics analysis of 10 weaned colts together with the morphology score provided in the ABCCMM regulation (2020) allowed increasing objectivity of the evaluation of limbs, a zootechnical region fundamental for functional performance and prevention of claudications. The proposed 2D kinematic methodology is applicable in the field and could allow the inclusion of body measures associated with the marcha gait of the MM horse, and a complementary methodology for assessing leg conformation during MM horse genealogical registration.
