Resumo: This research addresses the issue of the presence and mediation of technical images, especially of cinema, understanding them as enabling the construction of a new pedagogical process. It cannot be denied that the devices that mediate communication and mainly produce images will be increasingly present in the relationship between teachers and students. Thus, we chose the following questioning for this investigation: what epistemological and aesthetic meanings and foundations can technical images produce for the organization of the pedagogical work? We propose as objectives to indicate epistemological and aesthetic foundations for the pedagogy of the image based on the thoughts of Vilém Flusser and Walter Benjamin and to relate technical images to the aesthetic rationality of educational activity mediated by cinema. In the construction of an image pedagogy, the introduction of technical images enhances the learning/teaching now centered on aesthetic rationality and no longer on static disciplinary con- tents transmitted by the teacher. This critical theoretical study is referenced in the works “A obra de arte na era de sua reprodutibilidade técnica”, “Magia e técnica, arte e política”, “Pe- quena história da fotografia” by Benjamin and “Filosofia da caixa-preta”, “O universo das ima- gens técnicas”, “Pós-história” by Flusser. We adopted the hermeneutic bibliographic methodo- logical procedure to analyze the theme approached from philosophical concepts. A qualitative approach to the theme was carried out to investigate the proposed problem based on the theo- retical framework to deepen the understanding of the epistemological and aesthetic foundations arising from the mediation of technical images in pedagogical processes. We proposed a script or suggestions of paths for pedagogical activity mediated by cinema based on the study and appropriation of the theoretical framework.
