Abstract: This work aimed to investigate and obtain complementary information about the germinative characteristics of Aristida jubata (Arechav.) Herter. Nursery trials were carried out to evaluate the influence of sowing depth, light conditions and soil storage. In the laboratory, the influence of light, temperature, fire intensity and seed viability were evaluated. The results showed that seed viability at a depth of 5 cmreduced germination to 28%. Soil storage resulted in total seed mortality after a period of 2 months. The species, under controlled laboratory conditions, was indifferent to light. Germination was favored at 30°C. Fire simulation verified the tolerance of seeds, when in low intensity. Seed storage for one year at roomtemperature did not affect its viability. When stored in a dry environment, the seeds remain viable for one year, a period that allows their use in the initial phase of recovery of degraded areas and new collection in the following year.
