Abstract: This work was developed with the central objective of knowing and understanding the difficulties faced in schooling young people in the village of Cajuru do Cervo, in the Municipality of Lavras-MG and surroundings, as well as the conditions that can contribute to overcoming them. Specifically, we sought to: (1) Know which jobs and with which other jobs and means of income the families of students in the village under study support their lives (2) Understand and investigate histories of school dropout and school success stories. (3) Identify the school factors that lead rural adolescents to drop out of school, in order to understand how they can train today and prepare young people with possible life options for the rural environment. (4) Investigate the role of the family in the school life of young people. (5) Knowing what is different in relation to the urban environment, in the living conditions, in the social conjuncture, in the rural area of the village, which contributes to the understanding and explanation of the worsening of difficulties and school exclusion. A field research was carried out, through semi-structured interviews with 20 people, students and non-students aged between 15 and 30 years. As the questions posted were based on the hypotheses that lead to some problems, young people leaving school understand what reasons can contribute to them studying more and better. After being considered as the responses of the participants, it was possible to confirm that there are some factors that make it difficult for the longevity of the people of age in school, such as the distance to get to high schools and difficulty in transport, being out of the maternity ward, work compatible with the student's school schedule, among others. With the development of this work, it is better to study the culture that exists in this village to study than to study, and to study for the rich. There are young people who are unmotivated and who feel inferior, who are not capable
