Resumo: | The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effect of mineral inoculation in fertilized eggs on the hatching and post-hatching characteristics of broiler chickens. The search for articles took place in July 2021 using the keywords “in ovo” AND “mineral OR “minerals”. The data used were extracted from scientific articles selected according to classification criteria. The meta-analysis was carried out following a random effects model, considering differences between placebo and treated groups. Some variables may influence the results of the work, such as the chemical form and quantity of the substance, concentration, pH, osmolarity, etc. Therefore, studies have shown controversial results in relation to mineral solutions inoculated “in ovo”, isolated or associated with other substances. Better results were observed (P<0.05) with zinc and calcium. As for the other variables, it was observed that substances injected into the albumen (P<0.05), with PBS as vehicle (P<0.05) had better results. As for the age during the injection, eggs inoculated on the 1st day (P<0.05) had an improvement in weight at hatching and weight gain, up to the 10th day (P<0.05) in weight gain and conversion to feed. In addition to these, eggs from breeders aged between 27-38 weeks performed better. The results demonstrated that the “in ovo” injection of minerals improves post-hatch performance, but worsens hatchability in broilers. |
