Produção da indústria ferroviária brasileira: investimentos nacionais e internacionais

Abstract

The objective of this work was to analyze the relationship between national public and private investments and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with the Brazilian production of parts and accessories for railway vehicles, as well as the provision of maintenance services for these vehicles. The research has an exploratory and quantitative nature, using regression with data in time series over 16 years, which made it possible to develop three econometric models in which the dependent variable was the production of the railway sector. Among the results, the greater independence of railway production from government subsidies stands out, with the growth of railway production being directly related to the expressive private investment it has been receiving. However, it cannot be said that the inflow of foreign capital into the transport sector is impacting the production of the railway sector.
