Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different hormonal inducers on artificial breeding of females and males of curimba Prochilodus lineatus. Males (n = 30) and females (n = 30) received two intramuscular hormone applications. The treatments were: CCPE-crude carp pituitary extract (0.5 and 5.0 mg/kg), G-gonadorelin (60 and 60 µg/kg) and A-busserelina acetate (0.25 and 0.5 ml/kg). We conducted blood sampling before hormonal application and after spawning to check the hormone levels of LH, FSH, estradiol and progesterone. The efficacy of treatments was performed considering, in males, the seminal volume, the rate of sperm motility, morphology and sperm concentration. In females, it was found the percentage of spawning, spawning weight (g), oocyte diameter (µm) and fertilization rate (%). Spawning weight and diameter of oocytes no presented significant difference (P > 0.05). Fertilization rate was observed only for CCPE and G treatments did not differ (P > 0.05) between them. Females and males curimba are not different (P > 0.05) in plasma levels of LH, FSH and estradiol before and after hormone application. In females progesterone concentration was higher (P < 0.05) before application of hormone. The gonadorelin, under the conditions applied can be used as an alternative to hormone use crude carp pituitary extract on induced curimba reproduction.
