Abstract: | This study sought to analyze the economic feasibility of nitrogen fertilization in Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, through data simulation with different levels of N fertilization (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 kg ha-1). Specifically, this research sought to: a) estimate the cost of establishment and maintenance of one hectare of pasture; b) estimate the share of each item in the cost of establishing and maintaining pastures; c) compare these costs using either tractor facilitated or manual operations. Both the mechanized and manual operations were profitable at all nitrogen levels, yielding positive fertilization values. The dose for maximum economic feasibility was 100 kg ha-1 for both types of operation. Also in both cases the values of economic feasibility decreased from the dose of 150 to 300 kg of N ha-1, thus while all values were positive, the producer would receive lower returns at higher fertilization levels. |
