Guarda responsável de animais: conceitos, ações e políticas públicas

Abstract

The responsible pet ownership represents the ethical actions that a society must demonstrate in relation to them. Public policies promote good coexistence between humans and animals, animal welfare, human and animal health, promote zooeyia and reduce the impact of zoonoses. This review aimed to present the concepts, actions and public policies established in Brazil and in other countries for the promotion of responsible pet ownership. In conclusion, it was possible to demonstrate the need for a more specific national public policy on the responsible possession of pets, with guidelines that allow to direct and complement the activities and actions that promote responsible pet ownership.
