Abstract: Although there have been significant advances in the understanding and treatment of neoplasms, they continue to be the cause of high mortality and morbidity in all species. Among them are skin tumors, very frequent in dogs and cats. This can be justified by the fact that the skin is a large and complex organ, representing a barrier between the body and the environment, and therefore constantly target of carcinogenic agents. The carcinoma of squamous cells is one of the skin tumors more common in dogs, especially in tropical countries, once the ultraviolet radiation is an important etiologic factor. It is essential that the diagnosis of the neoplasia is made early, while the lesions are superficial and small, for the success of the available therapeutic options.
