Resumo: Human activities have generated solid waste that must be properly disposed of to avoid environmental risks. Currently, the final disposal of solid waste in dumps and controlled landfills is prohibited by law, and the way considered less harmful to the environment is disposal in landfills. However, areas of former dumps, as in the city of Nepomuceno-MG, must be recovered. In this context, the objective is to establish actions and procedures necessary for the recovery of the landfill area in the municipality of Nepomuceno-MG, with adequate techniques for recovery and monitoring, as well as mitigating the deleterious effects for the community. The municipality of Nepomuceno has waste collection systems in the urban area, and a recycling cooperative. The area of the old dump received urban solid waste from 2004 to 2018. The method of rehabilitation of that area was selected through studies available in the literature. Water and soil analyzes were carried out, a project was prepared to reconstitute the flora around the area, a survey was carried out and an electrical resistivity evaluation was carried out in order to analyze the extent of the amount of waste in the area and probable contamination. The values found in soil analyzes are in accordance with current legislation. The analysis of heavy metals in groundwater and surface water during the dry season suggest contamination by Pb and Cd, and alterations in the parameters BOD, turbidity and thermotolerant coliforms were observed during the rainy season. The Flora Reconstitution Technical Project - PTRF listed the main tree species and how the plantings should be carried out. According to the survey carried out, the mass of waste is 9 meters deep. The resistivity evaluation showed that in transect 4 there is a greater probability of contamination, and in transect 5 (area of the mass of waste) contamination was confirmed, with values lower than 50 Ohm m-1. According to the results, a simple recovery of the area will be carried out, with geometric reconfiguration of the waste mass, waterproofing with clayey soil, gas drainage and rainwater drainage. These actions are fundamental for the recovery process of an area degraded by irregular waste disposal.
