Resumo: The document prepared by the United Nations (UN), published in 2015 - the 2030 Agenda - presents a set of 17 goals to be achieved by 193 countries, including Brazil. These are the Sustainable Development Goals. The present study refers to the fourth goal, which deals with the goals to be achieved by Education. The present study analyzed the educational legislations and investigated the sustainable pedagogical actions and practices developed by teachers of Basic Education in a public school in the city of Lavras. The research problem was based on the investigation of the sustainable actions and practices developed by elementary school teachers in line with the goals of the fourth objective of the SDGs, whose goal is to contribute to actions for the education of the student as a global citizen. The research was based on a case study and sought to discuss the correlation between Development, Education, Sustainability and Public Policies with the fourth SDG of the 2030 Agenda. This study has descriptive, documentary, and exploratory methodological aspects. The methodology applied was based on the Content Analysis technique proposed by Bardin, which aims to ensure scientific accuracy in the treatment of information. The documents and the bibliographic material were analyzed, as well as the answers from the interviews with the basic education teachers. After the analysis, the results followed the form proposed by the methodology and were categorized in tables and discussions. The results showed relationships with some points of the educational documents in force in the federal, state, and municipal spheres with the fourth SDG. It pointed out the absence of specific educational public policies at the municipal level on the theme and discusses how their elaboration can contribute to actions in the present and in the future for the development of a sustainable pedagogy in the curriculum of basic education schools in the Municipality of Lavras and others in Brazil.
