Abstract: Soils in tropical regions are low in phosphorus. Some species of birds remain in certain places for an extended period, forming large populations and nesting sites, where their feces accumulate on the ground. The objective of this study was to evaluate thephosphorus content in the soil, in the areas of influence of a Bulbucusibis(B. ibis)nest, in the south of the state of Minas Gerais. Collections were carried out in six areas, three under the influence of nesting and another three without influence. Phosphorus, analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis tests, showed a significant difference with higher concentrations of remaining P only for areas under the influence of nesting. Further studies of animal-soil interaction processes are suggested to clarify the still unknown pathways of the biogeochemical cycle of the element phosphorus, so that there is potential for its use in different cultivable areas.
