dc.description.abstractThe aim of this paper was to determine the floristic composition and the structure of an area of 30.2 ha of dry forest (Seasonal Deciduous Forest) in Montes Claros municipality (MG). A sample of 40 (10 × 10m) plots was assessed. All individuals with circumference at the breast height (CBH) greater than 10 cm were included in the survey. In the analysis of structural parameters, density, dominancy, frequency and index of importance value (IVI) were calculated. The Shannon s diversity index (H ) and eqüability of Pielou (J) were calculated. Sixty one arboreal species were classifiedwith diversity ofH = 3.3 and J = 80%. In all tested structural parameters the species Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. All. and Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) Brenan presented the largest values (Dominance: 49% and 35.2%; Density: 19.4% and 13%; Frequency: 11.3% and 4% and IVI: 26.5% and 17.4%, respectively). These values are related with the high abundance and low values of CBH of those species. These results coincide with those of other works developed in Caatinga area in the north of Minas Gerais state.
dc.description.resumoCom o presente estudo objetivou-se determinar a composição florística e a estrutura de uma área de 30,2 ha de mata seca (Floresta Estacional Decidual), município de Montes Claros (MG). O estudo foi conduzido em 40 parcelas de 100 m2 (10 x 10 m), sendo amostrados todos os indivíduos com circunferência à altura do peito (CAP) 10 cm. Na análise foram calculados os parâmetros estruturais de densidade, dominância, freqüência e índice de valor de importância (IVI), além dos índices de diversidade de Shannon (H ) e equabilidade de Pielou (J ). Foram catalogadas 61 espécies arbóreas com diversidade de H = 3,3 e J = 80%. Nos parâmetros estruturais as espécies Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. All. e Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) Brenan apresentaram os maiores valores relativos (Dominância: 49% e 35,2%; Densidade: 19,4% e 13%; Freqüência: 11,3% e 4% e IVI: 26,5% e 17,43%, respectivamente). Esses valores estão relacionados com a elevada abundância e baixos valores de CAP dessas espécies, resultado que coincide com outros trabalhos desenvolvidos na região de Caatinga, no norte de Minas Gerais.
