| dc.description.abstract | This study analyses the scenery and the export potential of the Brazilian pork sector face the supposition of commercial agreements of commercial liberalisation between the country and other nations. To do so, we estimate the import potential of blocks/countries, the Revealed Advantage Index of Brazilian Exports and of its main competitors, the Regional Orientation Index, as well as a bibliographic research of the main existing barriers. The results regarding the import potential indicate that the European Union (EU) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) constitute a potential and promising market to Brazilian pork, respectively. The results from the estimates of the comparative advantages demonstrated that Brazil has an increasing competitiveness in the sector studied here in the period from 1990 to 2005. The imposed barriers have been demonstrated as extremely high. Finally, we can verify a high level of acceptance of Brazilian pork exports to that blocks that do not have hindering sanitary barriers. | |
| dc.description.resumo | Este estudo analisa o panorama e o potencial exportador do setor brasileiro de carne suína frente à suposição de acordos de liberalização comercial entre o país e outras nações. Para tanto calcula-se o potencial importador dos blocos/países, o Índice de Vantagem Revelada das Exportações do Brasil e de seus principais concorrentes, o Índice de Orientação Regional, além de pesquisa bibliográfica das principais barreiras existentes. Os resultados, quanto ao potencial importador, indicam que a União Européia (UE) e a Comunidade dos Estados Independentes (CEI) constituem-se em mercados potenciais e promissores para a carne suína, respectivamente. Os resultados do cálculo das vantagens comparativas revelaram que o Brasil tem competitividade crescente no setor estudado para o período 1990-2005. As barreiras impostas revelaram-se muito elevadas. Enfim, constata-se alto grau de aceitação das exportações brasileiras de carne suína naqueles blocos que não têm barreiras sanitárias impeditivas. | |
