dc.description.abstractThe vegetative development of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. cultivated in substrates based of royal fern fiber (Osmunda regalis L.) it was evaluated. The orchid plants were cultivated in polyethylene vases, staying in greenhouse conditions with 50% shaded. The used substrates were: xaxim fibered (control); royal fern; xaxim + royal fern (3:1 v/v); xaxim + royal fern (1:1v/v) and royal fern + xaxim (3:1 v/v). After four months of the installation of the experiment, they were appraised the following variables: survival rate, shoot length, pseudobulb diameter, number of sprouts and number of leaves. The fiber of royal fern did not affect the survival of the plants and may represent a promising alternative as a substrate to the growing of D. nobile.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoAvaliou-se o desenvolvimento vegetativo de plantas de orquídea olho-de-boneca (Dendrobium nobile Lindl.) cultivadas em substratos à base de fibra de samambaia real (Osmunda regalis L.). As plantas de orquídea foram cultivadas em vasos de polietileno, permanecendo em casa de vegetação com 50% de sombreamento. Os substratos utilizados foram: xaxim desfibrado (testemunha); samambaia real; xaxim + samambaia real (3:1 v/v); xaxim + samambaia real (1:1 v/v) e samambaia real + xaxim (3:1 v/v). Após quatro meses da instalação do experimento, foram avaliadas as seguintes variáveis: taxa de sobrevivência, comprimento da parte aérea, diâmetro do pseudobulbo, número de brotos e número de folhas. Afibra de samambaia real não afetou a sobrevivência das plantas, podendo representar uma alternativa promissora como substrato para o cultivo de D. nobile.pt_BR
